Now on Etsy: The Bernie Deco Camisole, The Chun Cropped Deco Camsiole and The Nora Knickers

More in the shop today!

Meet Bernie, Chun and Nora... Bernie's bold and the perfect addition to any fall ensemble, be it for the boudoir or a meetup at the local watering hole. Chun's cropped and cute - ideal for layering (and a seamless match for the Lien Garconne Tap Shorts). What is there to say about Nora other than the fact that she's precious? I love making knickers and these turned out lovely. She's my first foray into black jacquard and certainly won't be the last.

More to come this week, so stay tuned! And while you're at it, check out all my newest bits and pieces in the Honey Cooler Handmade store.

Black and White and Red and Yellow All Over

One of the benefits of working toward a last-minute trunk show is that you get to create a boatload of product in a short period of time. This week you'll see a bunch of new pieces from HCH, each with a personality all its own.

Is it possible for lace to be badass? I don't think I would have been convinced a year ago, but lately I've been coming across the most wicked insertion lace on the planet. My Joanie Deco Cami has a black and white kiwi bird lace and (brace yourselves) the Georgina Cropped Deco Cami boasts fire-breathing dragon lace. All vintage, most likely from the 1930's. Those flappers were some crazy folks.

Joanie is spoken for but Luna and Georgina are up for grabs. And you'd better believe that if I were a smidge smaller, Georgina would be mine, fire-breathing dragons and all.

What are you waiting for? Go hit up the Honey Cooler Handmade shop now! And stay tuned for more pieces this week, including a sweet stash of Knickers!

BellJar Trunk Show, September 2011

It's been a crazy month. Last weekend was my first retail show ever (Capsule Urban Air Market), followed by the most epically awesome honor ever - showing my pieces at a BellJar Trunk Show in San Francisco's glorious Mission District.

The story I've been telling everyone is that on an A - Z continuum, I pictured Honey Cooler Handmade puttering quietly around at a C. C: approximately three small steps down a very long lane with lots of exciting things along the way to the giant Z of world domination. A trunk show at BellJar was next-half-of-the-alphabet territory, so I was quite shocked and pleasantly surprised when I got an email from the adorable boutique asking if I'd participate in their event.

So, proof! Proof that I had rack space at BellJar! Need I mention that the trunk show was promoted on DailyCandy and Refinery29? I can die a happy woman.

So, what's next? I'm not quite sure yet, but I'm gonna keep plugging along. And I really dig the trunk show thing, so if any of you have suggestions for places I might check out, please let me know!

In Progress: Alouette Bow Belt

This beautiful vintage ribbon is one of the loveliest I've ever come across. It's being stitched into a Bow Belt as we speak. If all goes as planned, you'll be able to shake hands with Alouette this afternoon over at the Honey Cooler Handmade shop!

Crimson and Clover

I really didn't have a choice when the lyrics to "Crimson and Clover" settled into my brain this afternoon. I'd been staring at a lovely vintage clover lace, and the rest was history. Though I'd love to say I kept replaying the original version in my head (by Tommy James and the Shondells), I'll admit that I was thinking more Jimmy Eat World. I'm hoping by posting both versions here that I can jettison my internal soundtrack into the universe.

Tommy Jones and the Shondells - Crimson and Clover

Jimmy Eat World - A Praise Chorus

Now for the inspiration behind the music choices: Carmen, Emmy, Millicent and Rubie! If you're feeling the red and green (crimson and clover), hop on over to the Honey Cooler Handmade shop. There's tons to choose from, and if you have your eye on anything, now's the time to snap it up, because Capsule is next weekend!

A Dash of Deco

I spotted these fantastic images over on the wicked blog How To Be A Retronaut:

Let it be said that I hate golf, but I love the 1920's and I love cheeky girls in swimsuits. Yum!
