Louis XV's mistress Madame de Pompadour was onto something when she said "Champagne is the only wine that leaves a woman more beautiful after drinking it." Having consumed quite a lot of wine in my days, I can definitely attest to the validity of Mme. de P's claim. Red wine leaves me flushed and tired, white wine leaves me loopy, but champagne just makes me smile. And we all know smiles are beautiful.

This year, our San Francisco spring has announced itself with lots of rain. This past week has been particularly gloomy, but that doesn't mean SF's most fashionable aren't wearing their prettiest colors with pride (albeit with galoshes).

A Sneak Peek...

When it rains, it pours. Up until about 2 weeks ago, things were pretty quiet here in HCH land. The post-Valentine's Day/pre-tax season lull had officially set in, and while I kept plugging away and sewing my heart out, it seemed that the retail world was feeling, well, flat.

Then a perfect collaboration came to fruition. I don't want to give too much away, but suffice it to say that myself, Antonette Streeter Photography, Zelma Rose, Elizabeth Street Cosmetics, Paul's Hat Works, fashion stylist Dominique Guillen and hair and makeup artist Rebecca Taff pulled an incredible project together with the incredible generosity of Trick Dog, the Mission District's most popular (and let's be honest: excellent) new bar.
